The Department of Nursing at the University of Jeddah was established in 2018, within the College of Applied Medical Sciences to meet the existing need. The Bachelor of Nursing program provides specialized courses such as Fundamental of Nursing, Maternity and Children Health, Mental Health Nursing, Surgical & Internal Nursing, Family & Community Health Nursing, Management and Leadership. These courses are designed with high quality to provide students with the necessary education and training to qualify them for health service and competition in the labor market. Graduates of this department are expected to be leaders in the development of the clinical nursing staff, clinical research, nursing management, and nursing education in various medical and educational facilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is worth mentioning that nursing is one of the most important health disciplines that are largely responsible for the patient care. Nurses also carry the task of raising health awareness and educating individuals as well as the community. At present, the demand for nursing services has increased locally and internationally, which has led to an increase in the number of universities and colleges that are interested in teaching nursing programs to meet the needs of this health and humanitarian speciality.

Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT), also known as Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS), is the study of disease detection, diagnosis, and treatment. Carrying out analysis on specimens obtained from the human body such as; blood, body fluid, and other biological samples inside the medical laboratory. The student will be taught courses in MLT in levels including: Diagnostic Hematology, Coagulation, Blood Bank, Clinical Diagnostic Chemistry, Medical Diagnostic Microbiology, Diagnostic Medical Parasitology, Virology, Mycology, Genetics and Molecular Diagnostic Biology, Diagnostic Genetics and Molecular Techniques, Diagnostic Immunology, Urinalysis and body fluids, Cytology and Histology, Analytical Methods and Instrumentation, Medical laboratory skills, Laboratory management and quality control, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and Medical Terminology.

It is a newly established department in the College of Applied Medical Sciences at the University of Jeddah to keep up with the needs of the industry and to settle careers in line with the kingdom vision 2030. The department aims to prepare technicians who are familiar with the physical laws of light reflection and refraction, able to know the defects of vision, types of contact lenses, installing and manufacturing of glasses for various conditions such as long-sightedness, short-sightedness, astigmatism, and have managerial skills such as sales, marketing, and accounting, which makes them eligible to work in the eyeglasses stores after graduation. The cooperation between the Department of Optometry and the private sector through workshops to develop and train the graduates for future career opportunities.
